Parul Stores

We have been running this shop in Birati for a long time now. It is located on the ground floor in Anjangarh, right on A P C Roy Road. Most people in the neighborhood know us because we are directly opposite the Shishu Udyan. It is a good spot, but it gets very busy when the kids are playing in the park across the street. We started out with just a few items on the shelves, and slowly we added more as people asked for things. The shop is not very big, so we have to stack things quite high. Sometimes it feels a bit cluttered, but that is just how a local store looks. My family helps out, so you will usually see one of us sitting behind the counter. We don't have any fancy signs or big lights. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit and makes a clicking sound all day, but we don't mind. We see the same faces every morning when people go to work. It is nice to know the names of the people who come in. We try to keep the place clean, but with the dust from the road, it is a constant job. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in Kolkata. We just want to be here for the people in Birati when they need something quick. It is a simple life, but it keeps us busy from morning until we close up at night.
