Orchid Family Salon

People often find us because we are right beside Junior Pathabhawan School here in Ballygunge Place. It’s a busy little corner of Kolkata, especially when school lets out and parents are running around. We opened Orchid Family Salon just to give folks in the neighborhood a decent place to get their hair done without having to travel too far or deal with those overpriced mall places. Most days it’s just us here, sweeping up hair and chatting with the regulars who live in the nearby blocks. We do all the standard stuff like haircuts for the kids and whatever the adults need, nothing too crazy or experimental. The shop isn't huge, but it's comfortable enough. You might have to wait a bit on Sunday mornings because that’s when everyone seems to wake up and realize they need a trim before the week starts. Sometimes the humidity in Kolkata makes the floors a bit sticky, but we try to keep things tidy. We’ve seen a lot of kids grow up here, coming in for their first haircut and then later for their school photos. It’s just a normal part of the street life around 85/1. We don’t have a big fancy sign, just the name on the door. It’s quiet in the afternoons before the evening rush starts. We just keep our heads down and do the work, making sure people leave looking a bit better than when they walked in through the door.
