New Dhaba Junction Food

We’re over at Bangur Avenue in Kolkata, at 69/1, Block A. We are right near the Axis Bank ATM, so we are pretty easy to find if you’re walking through the neighborhood. We wanted to have a place that felt like those roadside dhabas but right here in the city. We do a lot of North Indian style food, mostly stuff that goes well with tandoori roti. The oven stays hot all day. It’s a small place, nothing too big or complicated. Most of our customers are people who live nearby or work in the shops around here. We do a lot of parcels too because people like to eat at home while watching TV. The kitchen is right there, so you can hear the pans banging and the chefs shouting out orders. We don't have a fancy uniform, just our regular clothes and aprons. We try to keep things clean, though it’s a busy little spot. We use a lot of butter and cream in the dal, just like it should be. Sometimes the seating area gets a bit cramped when it’s raining outside. We just move things around to fit everyone in. It’s a simple business, we buy the vegetables in the morning and cook them until they’re gone. We’re just happy to be a part of the Bangur Avenue community for all these years. If you come by in the evening, you’ll likely see me sitting at the front counter checking the bills and chatting with the drivers.
