Our office is near Posta, specifically at 50, Kali Krishna Tagore Street in Burrabazar. If you know this area, you know how packed it gets. There are people, handcarts, and big trucks everywhere you look. It’s probably one of the busiest spots in the city. Our place is right in the thick of it. We’ve been operating out of here for a while, and the walls are a bit stained from years of use and humidity. We don’t mind. It’s a place for work, not for showing off to visitors. We handle a lot of transport goods, so there’s always a lot of shouting to clear a path through the crowds outside. The smell of the market is always there—spices, old wood, and exhaust fumes from the traffic. We sit on old wooden chairs and use a heavy metal stapler that’s probably older than I am. The phone rings a lot, and it’s usually someone asking where their truck is located. We give them the best answer we have based on the traffic. Lunch is usually eaten quickly because there’s always someone at the counter. We know the local tea shop owner by name, and he knows exactly how we like our tea. It’s a tight-knit community here despite the noise. You have to be patient to work in Burrabazar. Things move slowly because of the crowds, but they move. We just keep at it.
