Mejdar Saloon

Mejdar Saloon is tucked away on the ground floor of Rabindra Pally-Keshtopur in Kolkata. We are at building BE-25, which is quite close to Swastic Paint. If you see the paint shop, you are pretty much there. It is a small shop, mostly just for men looking for a quick trim or a shave. The setup is very basic. We have the traditional barber chairs and a few shelves for the razors and lotions. It is the kind of place where the neighbors stop in to say hello even if they don’t need a haircut. The lighting is okay, and we have a big mirror that covers most of one wall. Keshtopur is a crowded area, so there is always something going on outside the door. We keep a stack of old newspapers for people to read while they wait their turn. The floors are tiled and we try to keep them clean, though hair gets everywhere by midday. It is a humble little spot. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the first customer. It has been our routine for a long time now. People come here because it is convenient and they know what to expect. It is just a simple saloon for the local crowd in Rabindra Pally, nothing fancy about it at all.
