Marine Container Services India Pvt Ltd is over at 7C, Hastings Chambers on the 2nd floor. We are right on K S Roy Road, not too far from the Calcutta GPO. It’s an old building with high ceilings and those heavy doors that have been there forever. You can hear the city traffic outside all day long, especially the horns near the post office. We spend our days dealing with containers and all the logistics that come with them. It’s a lot of back-and-forth communication. Our office is usually a bit cluttered with folders and printouts because there’s always a lot to keep track of. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows where everything is, even if it looks a bit messy to someone else. We’ve been in Calcutta for quite a while now and have seen the way the shipping world has changed, but the basics of getting a container from one spot to another are still pretty much the same. We take our lunch breaks when we can, often just grabbing something quick from a nearby stall. It’s hard work and the days can be long when shipments are delayed, but it’s what we know.
