Lila Dipa Saloon

You can find Lila Dipa Saloon on the ground floor over at Barwaritalla Main Road. We are tucked inside Milan Bazar in the Keshtopur area. It’s a very crowded place, especially in the evenings when everyone is out doing their grocery shopping or just walking around. The shop is small and has that specific smell of talcum powder and aftershave that all traditional saloons have. We have been working here for quite some time, and it’s always the same routine. The bazaar is right outside, so there is constant shouting and the sound of people bargaining for fish or vegetables. Inside, it’s a bit calmer, though not by much. We have a few mirrors that have seen better days and the chairs are a bit squeaky when you sit down. Most of our regulars are people who live in the nearby blocks of Keshtopur. They come in for a hair cut and stay for a bit of a chat about local politics or the football scores. We don’t use any fancy machines, just our hands and the usual tools we’ve always used. It’s a ground floor shop so people just pop their heads in to see if a chair is free. If it’s full, they go finish their shopping and come back later. We don’t have any big plans to change things. We just keep the shop open and serve whoever comes through the door during the day.
