Kumkum Ladies Beauty Parlour

Our little parlour is at 410 R N Guha Road in the Motijhil area. It has been sitting here for a few years now. We aren't located right on the main main road, but the people in this neighborhood know where to find us. Usually, I start the day by wiping down the counters and checking if we have enough cotton and thread for the customers. The space isn't very big inside, so we can only really take two or three people at a time. If it gets crowded, people just wait outside on the step or go to the market nearby and come back later. We don't have a receptionist or anyone like that to take bookings. I just do the work myself with one young helper. The lighting is okay, but on cloudy days here in Kolkata, it gets a bit dim inside the shop. We focus on things like eyebrows and simple haircuts for the local women. Most of the ladies around here just want something quick and affordable. The floor is tiled but some of the tiles are a bit cracked near the door. It doesn't seem to bother anyone much. We have a small radio that plays the news or some old music while we work. It fills the silence when no one is talking. Sometimes the street outside gets very loud with the traffic, especially in the evenings. We just keep the door shut then. It's a simple life running a shop like this.
