Kalu Saloon

Kalu Saloon is located right on the ground floor along Jatragachi Main Road in Kolkata. If you are looking for us, we are directly opposite the drainage pumping station. It might not sound like the most glamorous spot, but it is where we have been for a long time and the locals know us well. The road stays very busy with all kinds of vehicles, so there is always a bit of noise and smoke in the air. Inside the shop, we have the standard setup with the big mirrors and the swivel chairs that have seen better days but still work fine. We focus on men’s grooming, mostly just hair cutting and shaves. We do not use any complicated machines, just our hands and some good scissors and razors. The lighting inside is a bit bright so we can see what we are doing clearly. Usually, there is a radio playing some local news or music in the background. We get all sorts of people, from laborers working on the road to office goers who live nearby. It is a place where you can just sit down, get your work done, and have a bit of a chat if you feel like it. We do not have a manager or a front desk, you just walk in and wait for your turn. It is a practical shop for a busy part of town, and we like keeping things simple for everyone.
