Japs Caterers

I’ve been around Jessore Road for a long time, and Japs Caterers started because we just liked cooking for folks. Our place is at 537, Kajipara, right in the thick of Dum Dum. It’s not a big fancy office or anything, just a busy kitchen where we spend most of our mornings chopping vegetables and getting the spices ready. My brother and I usually start before the sun comes up because the traffic on Jessore Road gets pretty bad later on. We handle a lot of local weddings and small house parties around here. Sometimes it gets really hectic when three people want fish curry at the same time on a Sunday. We don't have a big marketing team, it’s mostly just us answering the phone and writing orders down in a notebook. The 700028 area is home to us, so we know most of the neighbors. Sometimes the stove acts up or a delivery is late because of the rain, but we manage. We’ve had the same few cooks for years now and they know how I like things done. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day, but seeing the empty plates at the end of a party makes it okay. We just keep doing what we do every day, making sure there’s enough salt in the gravy and that the rice is cooked right. Nothing too complicated about it. Just a local business trying to keep things moving and people fed.
