J Saha Gents Saloon

This saloon is on the ground floor right on Baguihati VIP Road. It’s very easy to find because we are near the Baguihati taxi stand. You can hear the taxis and the traffic all day long. Kolkata is a crowded place and this area is no different. I’ve been cutting hair here for a long time. It’s a gents' saloon, so we mostly do haircuts and shaves. The shop isn't fancy. We have the standard revolving chairs and big mirrors on the walls. Men from the taxi stand often come in for a quick shave before they start their shift. It’s a fast-paced environment. I don’t spend much time talking unless the customer wants to. Usually, we just put on the radio or a small TV in the corner to keep things moving. The floor is always covered in hair clippings because someone is always in the chair. It gets very busy in the mornings and then again in the evenings. I take my tea breaks when the shop is empty for a few minutes. We keep our tools sharp and the water warm. It’s a simple business. No one needs an appointment, they just walk in and wait their turn. The address is 700059, but people just know us as the shop near the stand. It’s a decent living and I know most of the faces that walk through the door every day. We just focus on the task at hand.
