Excel Clearing Agency is located at 14/2 Old China Bazar Street. If you know the area near the Calcutta GPO, we’re right opposite the petrol pump on Brabourne Road. It’s a very busy intersection and there’s always something going on outside our windows. The building is old, like most things in this part of town. We do clearing work, which is basically a lot of documentation and dealing with customs. It’s a lot of running around and making sure all the stamps are in the right places. We’ve been doing this for a long time. Our desks are usually covered in files and folders. It might look messy to an outsider, but we have our own system that works for us. We don't use much fancy software; we prefer the ways we’ve always done things because they’re reliable. The noise from the street is constant, but you get used to it after a while. Most of our clients are people we’ve known for decades. We don't feel the need to sound corporate or polished. We’re just local guys doing a necessary job. Sometimes the power goes out or the phones act up, but we just keep going. It’s a straightforward life here at the agency. We don’t make big promises, we just try to get the goods cleared and moved. We usually close up once the last document for the day is filed away.
