We are up on the 5th floor at No. 46b Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road. Darshanlal Ramesh Chand has been operating from this spot for quite some time. The stairs can be a bit much if the elevator isn't working right. Being on the 5th floor gives us a bit of a view but we’re usually too busy to look. It’s a traditional setup here. We have old desks and lots of paper files. We don’t really use a lot of high-tech stuff if we can help it. The street downstairs is always loud with traffic. Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road is one of those places that never really sleeps. We get our work done in the middle of all that. It’s mostly family-run or feels like it. We know our regulars. They know where to find us. It’s not a place for browsing. We just handle the business side of things. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when new stock comes in. We move things around to make space. It’s a simple way of working. No one here wears a suit. We just wear what’s comfortable for a long day. Darshanlal Ramesh Chand is just a name on a brass plate by the door. We like the history of the place. It feels like we belong here. We keep it quiet and just focus on our ledgers and phone calls all afternoon. It is just the way we have always done things. There is always a stack of paperwork to get through before the day ends.
