Chitrita Banerjee

I work out of my place at 16/3, P Majumder Road in the Haltu area. If you know where the 107 Corporation office is, I am right next to it. My name is Chitrita Banerjee. I have been living and working in Haltu for quite a few years now. It is a nice neighborhood where people still know each other's names. My setup is not what you would call a professional office. It is just a room in my house that I have dedicated to my work. I have my desk, my books, and a couple of chairs for when people come over. I didn't want to work for a big company where I would just be a number. Here, I can do things my own way. It is a very quiet street mostly, though you hear the usual sounds of the neighborhood like the vegetable sellers going by or the local kids playing. I don't have any staff or a secretary. When you call or visit, you talk to me directly. I think that makes a difference. Most of my clients are people who live just a few blocks away. They like that they can just walk over. We sit down and go over whatever they need help with. There is no pressure and no corporate talk. It is just me using my skills to help out where I can. It is a modest way to earn a living, but I like it.
