Albela Biryani

This is Albela Biryani and we are based in Kolkata, specifically at 2 No Motilal Colony. We are on the ground floor of the building in Rajbari Colony on Nirmal Sengupta Sarani. If you are looking for us, we are right opposite the Phoenix Hospital. Being near a hospital means we see a lot of people who are worried or in a hurry, so we try to get the food out as fast as we can. Our shop is not very large at all. It is a humble setup where the main focus is the big metal pots where the biryani is cooked. The smell of the rice and meat usually fills up the whole street outside. We have been here for a while and we have a regular group of people from the colony who come by every evening. The walls are a bit plain and we don't have any expensive furniture. It is just a place to get a plate of biryani and maybe a cold drink. Sometimes the line stretches out the door onto the sidewalk when the evening batch is ready. We do everything ourselves, from cleaning the rice to serving the customers. It is hard work and the kitchen stays hot all day long. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just open up and hope people like the food enough to come back again.
