We are based out of Room 10A on the 10th floor of Diamond Chambers, which is over in Block 4 on Chowringhee Lane. It is right in the Park Street area, so we are surrounded by all the life and noise of central Kolkata. Being up on the 10th floor gives us a bit of a view, though we are usually too busy with the files on our desks to look out the window much. The office is a decent size, but we have managed to fill it up with all sorts of equipment and folders over the years. It can get quite hot in the city, so we are always thankful when the building's cooling is working right. Most of us have been in the logistics business for a long time, so we know how to handle the ups and downs of the trade. We have a little routine here, starting with the morning tea and checking the overnight messages from the port. It is not a very formal place. People dress for the weather and we talk across the desks rather than sending a bunch of internal emails. Sometimes the elevators in the chambers are slow, so you have to be patient. We just focus on getting the day's tasks done and making sure the shipments are moving. It is a solid place to work with people who actually know what they are doing.
