Capcika Caterer

We operate out of 1/2 Beadon Row in the Beadon Street area. This is an old part of Kolkata where the streets are filled with history and a lot of noise. Capcika Caterer isn't a restaurant where you can sit down and eat. Instead, it’s more of a base where we prep all the food for parties and weddings. Most mornings, the place is full of the smell of onions being fried and big bags of rice being opened. We have these massive degchis and heavy stoves that we load into vans to take to different venues. It’s hard work and it gets very messy. There are crates of plates and spoons stacked up against the walls. We spend a lot of time talking to families about what they want for their big events. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, like when it rains and we have to move all the equipment under covers. We aren't a big corporate company with shiny offices. We just work out of this old building on Beadon Row. It’s about getting the cooking done right and making sure we have enough staff to serve the food when we get to the wedding hall. Our hands are usually busy with something, whether it’s cleaning up or loading a truck. It’s a busy life, especially during the wedding season when we barely get any sleep. We just keep going from one event to the next.
