Bliss Ladies Beauty Parlour

Our parlour is tucked away in Shantineeketan Apartment near the VIP Junction. It's at 15/A1. If you are standing at the taxi stand, you can basically see the building from there. It’s a busy spot in Kolkata because of all the traffic heading to the airport or the main city. We are on the ground floor which makes it easy for people to just walk in. The room is painted white and we have some old pictures of hairstyles on the wall that have been there forever. There's usually a few taxis parked right outside so there’s always the sound of engines and drivers talking. We have two main chairs for hair and a small partitioned area for other things. It’s not very private but the ladies who come here don't seem to mind. They like to chat while they get their hair done. We use a lot of local products that we buy from the market nearby. The floor is made of grey stone and it stays cool even when it’s boiling outside. Sometimes the water pressure in the tap is a bit low so we keep buckets filled just in case. It’s a practical setup for a small business. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. You just come in and if we’re busy you sit on the plastic chairs by the door. It’s just us working every day and taking care of the customers.
