Param Jute Products

We have been operating here in Basirhat for a good while now. Our workshop is located in Khorgachi Katiahat, which is a busy little area once the day gets going. We spend most of our time working with jute, turning the raw fibers into various products. It is dusty work and the smell of the natural jute is quite strong, especially during the humid months in Baduria. We do not have a fancy office with air conditioning or glass walls. It is just a practical space with machines and people who know how to handle the material. My family started this business near Katiahat, and we have just kept it running the same way since then. You can usually find us by looking for the stacks of finished bags waiting for the transport trucks. Sometimes the power goes out in the middle of a shift, so we just sit outside and talk until the lights come back on. Most of the people working here are from the local neighborhood. We focus on getting the stitching right and making sure the orders are ready on time. It is not a very complicated life, just handling the jute and keeping the machines oiled. We lock up the gates in Khorgachi every evening and head home to start again the next morning. It is honest work and we are glad to be part of the community here.
