Barua & Caterer

Barua & Caterer is based out of Green View Garia. We are tucked away near the old Padmasree Cinema. If you know that area of Garia, you probably know where our kitchen is. We aren't a big company with shiny trucks and uniforms. It is just a group of us who have been cooking for weddings and local parties for many years. Our house at P-32 is where all the planning happens. You’ll often see us loading up big metal containers into small vans early in the morning. Catering is hard work because you have to get everything right at the same time for a lot of guests. Sometimes we are sitting here peeling sacks of potatoes until late at night. The fans in the kitchen make a bit of a clicking noise, but we don't mind. We don't have a fancy office to meet people in. Usually, we just talk to folks at their homes or here in our kitchen while we work. We use traditional recipes that we learned from our elders a long time ago. It isn't anything like what you see on TV shows. It’s just honest cooking for a lot of people at once. We’ve done small birthdays and big wedding receptions all over South Kolkata. We make sure the food is hot and there is enough for everyone to eat their fill. It’s a lot of manual labor and long hours, but we enjoy being part of the local celebrations.
