We’ve been here at Gangarampur Road for a while now. Most people know us by the Mukherjee Gate landmark, which is how we tell people to find us when they get lost coming from the city. It's a busy spot in Maheshtalla, especially when the schools let out in the afternoon. We make different kinds of bags and some fashion items too, depending on what people are asking for at the time. The workshop gets pretty loud during the day with all the machines running, but you get used to the noise after a week or so. My cousin and I usually open up early in the morning because the traffic in 24 Parganas South can get really bad later on, and we like to get a head start before the heat kicks in. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that with bright lights or glass displays. It's just a practical space where the work gets done. Sometimes the power goes out, which is pretty common around here, so we just wait it out or use the old generator we keep in the back shed. People come by to pick up their orders or just to see what we have ready to go. We handle a lot of fabric and leatherette, so the floor is always covered in small scraps. It gets dusty, but that's just how a workshop is. If you're coming from the main road, just look for the gate. We’ve stayed in this same spot since we started.
