Agarwala Jute Mills Private Limited is based in Lakshmi Towers at 541/A. We are on the 1D floor which is easy enough to find once you enter the building. Rabindra Sarani is one of those places in the city that never really stops moving. It is always crowded, loud, and full of a very specific kind of energy. If you know that part of town, you know exactly how the traffic and the crowds can be at any given hour. Working with jute means there is a certain earthy smell and a bit of dust in the air around the office. It is a very traditional and tactile material to work with. The building itself, Lakshmi Towers, has been standing there for many years and it shows its age in a very comfortable and familiar way. We have stacks of files and samples of different jute grades all over the place. It is not exactly what you would call a minimalist office. We have people coming in and out to talk shop all day long. Sometimes the local tea seller comes by and we take a quick five-minute break to have a cup. The constant noise from Rabindra Sarani filtered through the old windows is like a background hum that we do not even notice anymore. We do not really do fancy meetings or have a polished boardroom. We just sit around the old wooden tables and talk about the shipments and what needs to get done before the day ends. It is a bit old-fashioned but that is just how we like it.
