Agarwal Store

Agarwal Store has been on Jessore Road in Kolkata for quite some time. If you know the Belgachia area, you know how busy this road can get. There are buses and autos constantly going past the door, making a lot of noise. Our shop is just one of those old-style places where we keep a bit of everything. We have rice, dal, spices, and all the small things a house needs. The walls are lined with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, and sometimes it's hard to find things, but we know where everything is. It’s a bit cramped inside, especially when we get a fresh delivery and there are sacks of grain sitting on the floor. Kolkata weather is always a factor, so we have to be careful about the dampness during the monsoon months. We see a lot of people who are just commuting through Belgachia on their way somewhere else, but we also have our regulars who have lived in the neighborhood for decades. It's a plain, honest business. We don't do anything special, just show up every morning and open the shutters. The Jessore Road location is good because people can stop on their way home. It’s a long day, standing behind the counter, but we are used to it. We just try to keep the basics in stock so no one goes home empty-handed.
