Nightingale Inter College

Nightingale Inter College is located in Rajender Nagar, Ward No. 16, in the Pokhrayan area of Kanpur. It’s a local school and college that has been a part of this neighborhood for quite some time. The building is typical for this part of Uttar Pradesh, with a courtyard and several floors of classrooms. Because we are an inter college, we see a lot of younger students as well as those finishing up their higher secondary years. It gets very loud during the morning assembly and when the bells ring for breaks. The streets around Rajender Nagar are always full of activity, and we are right in the middle of it. We don’t have a lot of fancy technology or modern architecture. It’s a traditional setup with wooden benches and plenty of charts on the walls. The teachers here live nearby and know many of the families in the ward. We don’t use corporate language or talk about global missions. We just want the kids to pass their exams and learn something useful. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when it rains hard, or the whiteboards get stained, but we just keep going. It’s a very human place where everyone knows everyone else. We focus on the daily lessons and making sure the students are where they need to be. It’s a plain, honest school that does its best with what it has.
