Down in Thiruvanmiyur, at No.156 on Avvai Nagar, you’ll find our workshop. Some people still know the address as Old No. 42. It gets a bit confusing for delivery drivers sometimes. We’ve been at this location for a long time. It’s a quiet enough street compared to the main roads. Inside, the shop is full of specialized tools and bits of metal. Southern Precision Tools isn't a massive factory. It’s more of a dedicated workspace where we focus on the fine details. We spend a lot of time hunched over the machines, checking measurements. My eyes get tired by the end of the day, but that’s the job. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing team. If you want to know what we do, you just have to come in and see the work on the benches. We work with a few local companies and some individual walk-ins. It’s a mix of everything. Sometimes we have to scrap a piece and start over because it wasn't quite right. That’s frustrating, but it happens. We prefer to take our time and get it right rather than rushing. The air near the coast in Thiruvanmiyur can be a bit salty, so we have to be careful about rust on the raw materials. We keep everything oiled up. It’s a small, honest shop and we like it that way. Most days we are just busy with the lathes.
