You can find us over on 2nd Street in Jhothi Nagar. We are at number 24, right in the Chitlalpakkam area. It feels like a residential neighborhood, but we have our workshop tucked right in there among the houses. We work with tools every single day of the week. The sound of grinding and sharpening is a constant thing during the daylight hours. We have been here for a long time and most of the neighbors are used to the noise by now. It is a small operation. We do not have a corporate office or any managers. It is just a few of us making sure the work gets finished on time. The shop is quite cramped because we have so many different machines squeezed into the space. We keep our extra supplies on high shelves just to make more room on the floor to walk. Customers usually just stop by the front door and shout for us. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of everything we do. It is not about being the fastest shop around; it is about not having to do the same job twice. We wear old clothes because the work is naturally dirty. There is always some dust or oil on the benches. We do not use any scripts when we talk to people. We just tell them what we can do and we do it. (247 words)
