We’ve been out here in Irungattukottai at the Sipcot Industrial Park for a good while now. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when everyone is heading to their sheds. Our place at C-20 isn’t anything fancy to look at, just a solid building where the machines stay running. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot over Sriperumpudur. We deal with presswork mostly, handling the metal and making sure the dimensions are what they need to be. It’s loud inside when the presses are going, but that’s just how it is. Sometimes the power acts up or a truck gets delayed at the gate, but we manage to get through the pile of work on the floor. The guys here know the machines inside out. We don’t spend much time on the office side of things because there’s always something to check on the shop floor. Lunch usually happens together, talking about local news or whatever is happening on the main road. It gets dusty around here with all the construction and movement, but we keep the workspace organized enough to find what we need. It’s a straightforward life, just making parts and getting them shipped out to wherever they’re going next. We don’t have a big sign or a lobby, just the work benches and the tools. People around the park know where we are if they need something pressed or formed. It’s just us doing our bit in the industrial zone day after day.
