Shruthi Power Tools

We are located on GST Road in Chrompet, right near the Government Hospital. Shruthi Power Tools is easy to spot because of the old sign outside. We have an old door number, 80, but the new one is 310, which sometimes confuses the mailman. The traffic out on GST Road is never-ending, so there is always a low hum of buses and cars in the background of everything we do. Inside the shop, it smells like electricity and lubricating oil. We have stacks of power tools everywhere, some new and some that people brought in for us to look at. We spend a lot of time taking things apart to see why they stopped spinning. It’s messy work. Our hands are usually stained with grease by lunch. We don't have a receptionist; usually, you just walk in and find one of us in the back with a screwdriver. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but the shop stays pretty much the same. We have a small radio that plays the news while we work. We don’t bother with fancy displays or bright lights. The tools speak for themselves. Most days it’s just us and the regulars who stop by for a spare part or a bit of advice. It’s a practical way to spend the day and we like being part of the local scene.
