Magick Woods Pvt. Ltd. is based at A-8 in the Industrial Complex out in Maraimalai Nagar, Kanchepuram. The first thing you’ll notice if you stop by is the smell of sawdust and wood glue. It gets into everything. We spend our time cutting, sanding, and putting things together. It’s not like those fancy furniture showrooms you see in the city; our place is a working factory. There are stacks of wood everywhere and the floors are never truly clean, no matter how much we sweep. The heat in Kanchepuram can be pretty intense, so we keep the big fans going all day long just to stay sane. We have a small crew and everyone has their own bench where they do their thing. We don’t have a bunch of meetings or corporate talk. We just look at the drawings and get to work. Sometimes a piece of wood has a knot we didn't expect or a machine gets jammed, and we have to stop and fix it. It’s just the nature of the job. We’ve been in this complex for a while now and we know all the other shop owners around here. We’re just a group of people who know how to work with wood and we do it every day. It’s plain, simple, and it keeps the lights on. We just stay busy until the sun starts to set over the complex. There is always a new project to start.
