Devi Oil Mills

It’s usually pretty loud here at 91 G.S.T Road. We’ve been in Pallavaram for a while now, and the mill has seen a lot of changes on this street. You know how GST Road gets during the rush hour. My father used to say the dust never settles. We spend most of our mornings checking the press and making sure the seeds are ready. It’s a messy job sometimes. Oil gets on everything, even the floors if you aren't careful. Most of the folks who stop by are regulars from the neighborhood. They come in with their own containers sometimes. We just keep the machines running and handle the stock as it comes in. It’s not fancy. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy with the pressing. Some days are hotter than others, especially when the sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon. We have a small fan that doesn't do much, but we get used to it. Dealing with suppliers is a whole different headache. Sometimes the trucks show up late because of the traffic near the airport side. We just wait it out and start the work whenever the load arrives. It’s just how things go at Devi Oil Mills. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know how the old gear works. It is just a living.
