You can find us over at Arati Padhan’s place in Deypur, Bhawanipatna. We are the Rcagro Farmer Producer Company Limited. It sounds a bit formal on paper, but we are just a collection of local farmers from this area. We decided to come together to make things a bit more manageable for everyone involved. Doing everything alone is just too hard these days with the way prices for everything go up and down so fast. We use the space at Arati’s for our records and to meet up when we need to decide on things like which seeds to buy or how to transport our stuff to the market. It is a very basic setup. There are no fancy signs or anything to show off. We spend most of our time out in the dirt anyway. That is where the real work happens. Bhawanipatna has its own way of doing things, and we have lived here all our lives, so we just fit in. We don’t try to act like a big corporation. We are just people who know how to grow things and want to make a decent living at it. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate, or the crops don't do what we want them to, but that is just part of the life we chose. We stick together and help each other when things get difficult. It is a practical way for us to survive and keep our farms going.
