Om Iron Craft

Om Iron Craft is located over near Chaturwatta Pulia, on the road to Mata Ka Than. It’s out in Magra Punjla, which is a bit of a drive if you aren’t from this side of town. We work with iron, mostly making gates or grills and that kind of thing. It’s a lot of fire and hammering. The shop is open to the air mostly, so we feel the weather as it comes. We’ve got a small crew and we’ve all been doing this for a long time. It’s a noisy business, and the neighbors probably don’t love the sound of the grinder at eight in the morning, but they’re used to it by now. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just see our work on a house nearby and ask who did it. We use heavy tools and spend a lot of time bent over a workbench. It’s tough on the back, but there’s a certain satisfaction when you see a raw piece of iron turn into a finished gate. We don't do anything fancy with our office, it’s just a corner with a few chairs and a table where we can sit down and talk about what the customer needs. It’s a straightforward business. We tell you what it’ll cost and how long it’ll take, and then we get to work. Most days we are covered in black dust from the metal, but we don't mind it much.
