As Prints

Our shop is over on Road Number 8 in the Basni Phase II area of Jodhpur. It’s a pretty busy part of the industrial area, and you can usually hear the sound of printing machines long before you step inside. Jodhpur gets incredibly hot, so we have a few old fans running all day to keep the air moving, though they don't do much against the heat. There’s always the smell of ink and paper in the air, which I’ve grown to like over the years. We don't have a fancy showroom; it’s mostly just stacks of paper and finished jobs waiting to be picked up. My hands usually have a bit of ink on them by noon, no matter how many times I wash them. We’ve been here in Basni for quite some time and know most of the other business owners on this road. Sometimes a customer comes in with a rush job, and we have to move things around to fit them in, but we try to be fair to everyone. It’s not a high-tech office with glass walls, just a practical space where we get the printing done. We close up once the orders for the day are packed and ready. It’s a simple way to earn a living, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. When the sun starts to set, the building finally cools down a bit, and we can prepare everything for the next morning's run of work.
