Apja Kalam High School

We are over in Kalika Nagar, specifically on Apjak Road, Road No 6. This is in the Mango area of Jamshedpur. If you know the city, you know Mango can be pretty crowded and lively. Our school sits right in the middle of all that activity. It's a high school, so we have the older kids who are getting ready for their big exams. The building isn't brand new, but it's where we spend most of our waking hours. We have a lot of stairs and hallways that stay busy during the day. It gets loud when the bell rings, which is just how schools are. We don't use any fancy talk about our goals. We just focus on getting the students through their books. Most of the teachers have been working here for years and they know the local families well. We see the same faces every morning at the gate. Jamshedpur is an industrial place, and our school feels like it belongs here. It’s hardworking and plain. We don't have a big budget for decorations, so we just keep things clean and tidy. It’s a place for the kids from around Kalika Nagar to come and study. We've seen many students grow up and move on from here. It's just a regular part of life on Road No 6. The local shops know our students and the whole street feels like a small village sometimes. We keep the doors open and the chalkboards busy from morning till late afternoon.
