Sharp Chucks & Machines Ltd. is located over at A 17-18 in the Industrial Development Colony. If you come by, you’ll see the industrial units lined up, and ours is just one of the many where the work actually happens. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings by noon. We spend most of the day around the chucks and the lathes, making sure everything is sized right. It’s a lot of manual checking. The colony itself is always busy with trucks coming and going, so we have to watch where we park. Inside, it’s mostly just the sound of cutting steel. We don’t spend much time in the office unless we have to. It’s better out where the machines are. Some of the equipment has been with us for a long time, and you learn its quirks. It’s not a quiet place to work. Sometimes the lights flicker when the heavy power kicks in, but we just keep going. We have a small tea break in the afternoon, which is when most of the talking happens. Otherwise, it’s just the hum of the motors. People around here know us as the place that handles the tough machining jobs. We don't have a big front desk or a receptionist. Usually, if you walk in, you’ll just see someone in overalls near the entrance. We’ve been at A 17-18 for long enough that the walls have that permanent machine-shop smell and the floor is worn down.
