Arun Engineering Works

You can find us on Gazi Gulla Road in New Gopal Nagar, right here in Jalandhar City. Our workshop is called Arun Engineering Works, and it’s been in this spot for quite a while. Jalandhar is a city where people make things, and we are just part of that tradition. The building is a bit rough around the edges, with some peeling paint and oil stains on the concrete floor, but it’s a working shop, not a gallery. We spend our hours working on different mechanical parts and repair jobs. There’s always the smell of grease and the sound of someone grinding metal. It gets loud, so we have to shout sometimes just to hear each other over the machines. Most of the guys working here have been with me for years, and we have a routine that works. We don't use fancy software to track things; we mostly just use a big ledger and some notebooks. People from around the neighborhood drop by with their broken parts, and we see what we can do. The street outside is usually busy with rickshaws and delivery vans. It’s a lot of manual labor and standing on your feet all day, but it’s good to see a project finished. We close up the big metal doors in the evening and head home, only to do it all again the next morning. It might be cold in the winter and stuffy in the summer, but that is just life on Gazi Gulla Road.
