J. S. Engineering Works

J. S. Engineering Works has been operating out of N. C. 14 and 24 on Old Railway Road for a long time. It’s an old part of town, and the street has a lot of history. Our workshop is a bit cluttered, to be honest. We have parts and tools from decades of work scattered around. It’s a real engineering shop, not one of those clean labs you see on TV. We handle a lot of metal fabrication and repair work. The noise from the trains nearby is something you just get used to after a week or two. We have a small team of guys who have been doing this since they were young. They don't need a lot of instructions; they just see what’s broken and figure out a way to weld it or forge it back together. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy signs. Most of our customers find us because they’ve been coming here for years or someone told them we were still here on the corner. It gets cold in the winter and the drafts come through the big doors, but we just put on an extra layer and keep going. It’s honest work, and we take it as it comes. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to make sure the parts we make actually fit and the machines we fix actually run. There is a trick to the older tools that we just enjoy.
