Surbhi Art Palace

Our workshop, Surbhi Art Palace, is at A-22, Dev Kunj, in the Shri Ram Nagar area of Jhotwara. Jhotwara is a place with a lot of history, and you can feel it in the streets around us. We spend our days surrounded by different kinds of art pieces, from small wooden carvings to larger painted items. The air is often filled with the smell of wood shavings or fresh paint. It’s not a sterile environment; there’s dust on the shelves and tools scattered across the workbenches. We don’t really follow a strict corporate schedule. We start when the sun comes up and work until the light fades or the task is finished. Sometimes we sit on the floor to work on the bigger pieces because it’s just easier that way. We don’t have a team of salesmen; we just focus on making things that look right to us. The neighborhood is quiet compared to the main city, which helps when you’re trying to concentrate on a tricky bit of painting. We’ve had this space for a long time and the walls are covered in old sketches and notes from past projects. It’s a bit cluttered, but we know where every brush and chisel is kept. We just keep making our art and hope the people who buy it like it as much as we do. It’s a quiet life here, but we’re always making something new.
