Omprakash Arts is tucked away in Manoharpura Kachi Basti, right at house 1503 in Bairwa Basti. If you know the Jagatpura area, you probably know it’s a bit of a maze getting back here. We do a lot of different things related to art and signs. It’s not some big studio with air conditioning, just a regular space where we get work done. We spend most of our days with paint on our clothes and brushes in hand. People come to us when they need something painted or a sign made for their small shop. We’ve lived and worked in this part of Jagatpura for a long time, so we know most of the neighbors. Sometimes the work is slow and steady, other times we’re rushing to finish a big project before the sun goes down. It’s mostly just manual work, using our hands to make things look decent. We don't have a big staff or anything, just a couple of us who know how to handle the materials. It gets dusty in the basti, but we manage. We aren't trying to be world-famous or anything, we just like making things that people can use. Every day is a bit different depending on what someone asks us to create. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. If you’re ever near Bairwa Basti, you’ll see us working away on whatever project is currently on the table. It’s just how we earn our living.
