Malmahal Art Gallery

This gallery is tucked away on Goner Road, specifically near Deshera Kothi Road in Govind Nagar. It’s not one of those sterile, white-walled places you see in magazines. We have frames leaning against the walls and stacks of canvases waiting to be hung. My hands are usually stained with a bit of paint or dust from moving things around. We show a lot of local work, stuff that comes from artists living right here in the neighborhood or just outside the city. Some pieces are very traditional, while others are just whatever the artist felt like making that day. Visitors often just wander in to look around while they are out running errands. We don't pressure anyone to buy anything. Sometimes people just want to talk about the colors or ask how a certain frame was made. It’s a quiet space for the most part, except for when we’re unpacking new shipments and there’s bubble wrap everywhere. The light comes in through the front windows in the afternoon and hits the paintings just right. It’s a lot of work keeping everything organized and making sure the glass is clean. We spend a lot of time rearranging the walls to make room for new things. It’s just a small spot for people who appreciate looking at something handmade. It’s been at this address for a bit now, and we like being part of the local community and meeting new art lovers.
