Simran Sweets

Simran Sweets is tucked away in Brahmpuri, at Fathe Ram Ka Tiba, Ram Khol Mohan Nagar 196 B. It’s not the easiest place to find if you don't live around here. The streets are very narrow and they wind around in different directions. We are in a quiet corner compared to the big markets. Most of the people who come to us are neighbors who have lived in Mohan Nagar for their whole lives. We know who is getting married and who is having a party because they come to 196 B to tell us. The shop is part of an old building and the rooms are small with low ceilings. We do all the cooking in a small space at the back. It’s very quiet in the afternoons when everyone is taking a nap. You can hear the birds and the occasional scooter going by. We don’t have a lot of help, just the family members who take turns behind the counter. The name Simran Sweets is painted on a piece of metal above the door. It’s faded now, but you can still read it. We like being in this part of town. It’s peaceful and people take their time. We don't have to rush. We just make what we need for the day and when it’s gone, we close up the shop. It is a slow way to live but it suits us well.
