Shri Kailash Moorti Kala Kendra

You can find Shri Kailash Moorti Kala Kendra at 1479, Khejron Ka Rasta. We are by the 4th crossing, near Kapdiyon Ki Bagichi. This is an old part of the city with very narrow lanes. Most of the time, the air is filled with fine white dust from the stone we carve. We make different kinds of moortis and religious figures here. It is a traditional way of working that hasn't changed much over the years. We have various sizes of statues sitting around in different stages of being finished. Some are just rough blocks of stone and others are almost ready for paint. It’s a family-run kind of place and we have several workers who have been with us since they were young. We don't have a computer in the front, just a big desk where we talk to people who come in. The space is a bit cramped because of all the stone, and you have to be careful where you step. It’s a lot of manual labor and our hands are usually covered in stone dust by the end of the day. We don't do much marketing because people in the neighborhood and the city know where Khejron Ka Rasta is and they know what we do. It’s more of a workshop than a shop, and we like it that way. We just keep our heads down and keep carving the stone until the work is done.
