You can find us right at Takiya Chowk on Jhotwara Road. Shri Ganshyam Sweets has been here long enough that most of the neighbors know us by sight and name. Our shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside, but we keep the inside tidy and the display cases full of fresh things. We wake up early to start the cooking because that’s when the sweets need to be prepared for the day ahead. Jhotwara Road is always moving, with cars and people going back and forth, so we see a lot of different faces every hour. We have our regulars who come in every morning for a little something, and then there are the people who just stop because they’re stuck in traffic and get a bit hungry. We don't have a big philosophy or some grand vision. We just make the traditional stuff that people around here expect when they want a treat. Sometimes the kitchen gets really hot and the work is tiring on our legs, but that’s just part of the trade we chose. We take pride in just being a consistent part of Takiya Chowk for everyone. When there’s a festival, things get really busy and we’re on our feet all day long. But on a normal Tuesday, it’s just a steady stream of folks looking for a simple snack. We try to keep our prices fair so everyone in the neighborhood can stop in. It’s a basic shop run by local people for local people who want something sweet.
