Saraswati Moorti Bhandar

Our workshop is tucked away in Bhindon Ka Rasta, right inside Teelawat Bhawan. Being near Indira Bazar means there is always something going on nearby, with vendors shouting and people rushing around. At Saraswati Moorti Bhandar, we spend a lot of our time covered in dust or paint, depending on the day. It’s a traditional kind of setup. My father worked here before me, and not much has changed in terms of how we do things. We have rows of items sitting on the floor and tucked into corners. It can get a bit crowded in here, especially when a big order is ready to go out and we are trying to find space to pack everything. The lighting isn't great, but we know where everything is kept. People come to us because they know we’ve been here at number 2889 for years. We don’t use any high-tech machines; it’s mostly just hand tools and a bit of patience. Sometimes a customer comes in with a specific idea, and we sit down to figure out if we can actually do it. Not everything turns out perfect, but we try our best with what we have. It’s a quiet life for the most part, despite the busy bazaar just a short walk away. We open up the shutters early in the morning and stay until the sun goes down.
