We opened up here on Chaura Rasta at number 274 quite a long time back. It is just a regular shop where we make different kinds of sweets every single day. Usually, the morning starts with the big milk pans boiling and that smell of sugar getting heavy in the air. People walking by to work often stop in just to see what is fresh on the trays. We don't really have fancy decorations or anything like that because the focus is mostly on getting the batches right. My father used to sit at the counter and now I do, mostly just watching the crowd go by on the street outside. Chaura Rasta gets really crowded during the festivals, and that is when we are the busiest, sometimes staying up late into the night to finish the orders. It is a lot of hard work, especially standing near the heat of the stoves all day, but it is what we do. We have some regular customers who have been coming since they were kids, and now they bring their own children along. It is nice to see the same faces year after year. We keep things simple, using the same old recipes we always had. Sometimes we run out of something popular before noon, and people get a bit annoyed, but that is just how it goes when you make things by hand in small amounts. Anyway, if you are around this part of town, you will find us easily enough near the main road.
