Sambhariya Feeni Wale

Sambhariya Feeni Wale is right in the heart of Chandpole Bazar at Mishra Raja Ji Ka Rasta 280. If you’ve ever walked through the old city, you know how narrow the lanes are and how crowded it gets. We have been making feeni here for a long time. It’s a very specific kind of work that takes a lot of patience. Making those thin strands of sugar and flour is hard on the hands and you have to be careful with the heat. Our shop is quite small and tucked away in the lane. We don’t have a big sign or bright lights to pull people in. Most of our customers are families who have been buying from us for years. During the festival seasons, the lane gets so packed that it’s hard to even stand outside the shop. We don’t use any modern machinery to speed things up because that would change how the feeni comes out. The walls are a bit dark from the smoke of the stoves and the space is tight, but we like it that way. We don't have a website or do any advertising. We just open the shutters in the morning and start working. It’s a traditional way of living and we plan to keep it going at 280 Mishra Raja Ji Ka Rasta. We mostly just talk to our neighbors and serve whoever walks through the door looking for a taste of the old city.
