Royal Sweets is our family shop out on Dabala Road in Kotputli. It’s not a big royal palace like the name might suggest, just a regular sweet shop we’ve been running for years. We get a lot of people who are traveling on the road, stopping by for a quick snack or to take some sweets home to their families. The kitchen is in the back, and you can usually hear the sound of the scrapers on the big iron pans. We make our mawa and chenna fresh because that’s the only way it tastes right. Some days are slower than others, especially when it rains and the road gets messy. We don't have a big staff, just a few local guys who have been with us for a long time. We know the people around here well, and they know us. The display cases are full every morning, but we try to sell everything by night so it’s not sitting around. It’s a bit of a dusty road, so we’re always wiping down the glass. We don't use any fancy packaging, just plain boxes and bags. Our prices are fair because we want the local people to keep coming back. It’s a straightforward business. We show up, we cook, we sell, and then we go home. That is how it has always been for us here in Kotputli, and we like it.
