Ratan Mishthan Bhandar

You can find Ratan Mishthan Bhandar at Bagru Walon Ka Rasta, number 54, right in the heart of Chandpole Bazar. This lane has a lot of history and we have been part of it for a long time. Every morning starts with the smell of the stove being lit. We make our sweets in the back and bring them out to the front cases as they get ready. It is a family thing, so you will usually see one of us sitting at the register and someone else helping with the packing. The floor is old stone and it has worn down in the spots where people stand the most. We don't have fancy decorations or air conditioning. It’s just a simple shop with benches for people to sit if they want to eat their snacks right there. The bazar is always noisy with the sound of bells and people shouting, but inside here it feels a bit different. We use the same recipes that have been used for years. Nothing is hidden, you can see what we are doing if you look past the counter. Sometimes we run out of certain items by the afternoon because we only make a set amount each day. We think it’s better that way rather than having old stock sitting around. It’s just how we do things here. We close up when the trays are empty or it gets too late.
