Ramdev Misthan Bhandar

Over in Shahpura, near the Tripoliya area, you’ll find Ramdev Misthan Bhandar. We’ve been in this location for a long time, and the building shows its age. It’s a very traditional spot. We don't have air conditioning or modern furniture. It’s just wooden benches and old counters. The town of Shahpura has a slower pace than the main city, but we still stay busy. We start our work long before the sun comes up to get the milk boiling and the sweets ready for the morning. Many people stop by on their way to the temple or the market. We know almost everyone who walks through the door. We don’t bother with advertisements or fancy packaging. If the food is good, people come back, and that’s what has kept us going all these years. The kitchen is basic, with big iron pots and open flames. It gets hot in there, but we are used to it. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when it’s quiet and watch the people go by. It’s a simple business, run by people who have lived in this area their whole lives. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just provide a local spot for the neighborhood. There is some peeling paint on the ceiling, but we focus more on the stove than the decor. It's just a part of the village life here. It has worked for us for decades.
