Poddar Sweets is located at Ambabari Chomu Pulia A-21A. The shop is right there on the corner where people are always passing by to get to the main road. We open up early to start the first batch of sweets because the sugar syrup takes some time to get to the right consistency. There is always a large kadhai bubbling in the back. Our counters are made of glass and we spend a lot of time wiping them down because of the fingerprints. You will see rows of different colored barfis and laddoos sitting there. We don't have a big team, just a couple of guys who know how to mix the mawa and fry the snacks. In the evenings, it gets quite busy with people heading home from work. They often stop for a quick bite or to take a small box of something sweet for their kids. The fans overhead don't do much against the heat from the stove, but we are used to it by now. We don't use any fancy machines; most of the shaping is done by hand. Sometimes we run out of the popular items before the sun goes down. The street noise from Chomu Pulia is always there in the background. It is just a regular local sweet shop where the same faces show up almost every day to see what is fresh.
